I could plainly see her stump
One of the prettiest amputees I saw was at a county fair. We were just getting ready to leave when I saw an attractive young woman come in through the gates on crutches. I immediately paid attention, even though I could not see her legs because of a row of flower planters. However, when she passed them, I was stunned to see that she indeed had only one leg!

Her right leg had been amputated a little above her knee and incredibly, she was wearing shorts so I could plainly see her stump. Even more fascinating was the way her amputated leg swung in rhythm as she stroked along on her crutches. It jiggled in a tantalizing way each time her left foot hit the ground and I suppose I was standing with my mouth open or something stupid, as she walked toward me. I could see her amputated thigh was perfectly smooth, the end rounded and it was as nicely tanned as her left leg.

As she passed me, she gave a little nod and smile. My heart pounded. As she walked away, she was silhouetted in the afternoon sun, like a marvelous movie, the very pretty shape of her one-legged body swinging gracefully between crutches as she moved down the midway.
