She was very crippled
As I walked home from my job i glanced across the street and noticed a woman using crutches struggling down the hill in the same direction I was going. I could see that she was very crippled and was using a pair of very well used wooden underarm crutches and wore a full legbrace on her right leg.

She used a gait that required her leading with her right crutch which was followed by her left leg then her left crutch. She then lifted her right hip to get her totally crippled right leg off the ground so it could move forward by gravity. Her right side jiggled as her leg hit the ground and bore some weight. I followed on the other side of the street until she crossed and disappeared into a store. I waited for her to emerge and she did so carrying a sack of groceries trapped between her right hand and her crutch handle. As she retraced her path I crossed behind her and went ahead of her so she would have to pass me.

As she neared me I could see that she was about 50 and stood about 5 foot 2 with very black hair. She had a nics figure and was wearing a black dress that was belted and full at the legs to allow her legs the freedom to move as she drug herself along. As she passed me our eyes locked as she noticed I was staring at her. Her expression seemed to be one of "please dont stare at me". As she passed I looked at her brace and noticed that it went into a shoe that was very beat up oxford brown in color.

I began to follow her very closely and saw that her foot was encased in metal that fitted in her shoe, that her ankle had a strap that encircled it, her calf had a back half support and her knee a front strap with a double buckle. As she walked her dress rode up her leg a little to expose a bit of her leg. I followed for about a block when she glanced back and gave me a very sad look. I stopped and she disappeared down an alley. After a while I checked the alley but all i found were crutch prints in the gravel.
